God is Sovereign
God acts only according to God's own gracious and loving will. There is no higher authority. God is not indebted or beholden to anyone, but fully free in every way. God cannot be corrupted. However we may distort the truth of God, we cannot change who God is and what God does. God's truth will remain.
Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior
Lord refers to the authority and leadership of Jesus Christ. We believe Christ reveals the will of God to us, and in following Christ, we align ourselves with the blessings of God's grace and love for the world. Savior refers to the forgiveness, healing, and reconciliation Christ brings, freeing us from the grasp of sin and evil, setting us free to live full and abundant live both now and eternally.
Holy Spirit Empowers our Faith
The Holy Spirit is God's transformative presence in the world and within each believer's own life. The Spirit is gifted to us as a sign of God's love, as an aid to our conscience, as a source of wisdom, as a motivating, empowering force that equips us to live out what we believe.
Baptism & The Lord's Supper
These are the two sacraments of the church. Baptism welcomes us into the Body of Christ and equips us through the gift of the Holy Spirit for the Christian life. The Lord's Supper feeds us spiritually with Christ's grace and sacrificial love, and unites the people of God.
The True Church is...
...the gathering of the Body of Christ for the purpose of enacting the kingdom of heaven on earth. The true church is not defined by a particular denomination but exists wherever Christians come together to faithfully proclaim the Word of God and practice love of God and neighbor. We believe being part of a faith community is essential to the Christian life.
The Bible is...
...the single authoritative witness to the Word of God. The Bible is not the literal word of God, but when read under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, fully reveals the will of God to us. all that we believe and all our faithful activity is discerned according to the Word of God.
Welcome
Our doors and our hearts are open to all our neighbors. Whether or not you are a church member, we are thrilled to have you join us in worship or at any activity. It's a joy to see new faces! In addition, we open our doors to many organizations vital to our community, hosting 6 support groups, Scouting, Senior Homesteaders, blood drives, and an immigrant congregation.
Inclusion
We welcome all persons who trust in God's grace in Jesus Christ and desire to become part of the fellowship and ministry of his church. All means all! God's love extends across the spectrum of gender diversity, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity/nationality, neurodiversity, disability, economic status, and even Christian belief. Members are not asked to confess a particular Christian doctrine, only faith in Christ.
Charity
We are generous in our giving and volunteering. At any given time, we are spending our budget for mission giving, we are collecting donations or special offerings for local, national, and global needs, and organizing the next thing! We respond to natural and human disasters as they happen. We seek in our giving to incorporate our social witness. Many of our ministry, including with our children, contribute.
Social Witness
Presbyterians believe that Jesus Christ made it clear in his teachings we have an ethical responsibility to engage in issues of social justice, which encourages church members and leaders to go to places of suffering and need to alleviate poverty, stop violence, protect the planet form climate change, and seek justice for immigrants, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people of color.
Love
We care deeply for one another, especially in times of illness or personal crisis. We pray for each other's joys and concerns. The Pastor and Deacons have particular roles in extending care, but love is at the heart of every meeting, activity, worship service, and behind the scenes task. Church members and friends build friendships that extend beyond our walls and carry into all of life.
Presbyterians (Presbyterian Church USA)
Presbyter = Elder
We are governed by a board of democratically elected Elders called the Session. Spiritual leadership is provided by both Elders and the Pastor.
Reformed & Reforming
"Reformed" is a Christian tradition emerging from the Protestant Reformation. We believe in continuous reformation according to the Word of God. Reformed values include Worship, Education, Thrift, Ethical Behavior, and Representative Government.
Confessional
Rather than adopting a set of strict doctrines, we are guided by a series of confessions that trace the evolution of the church's beliefs and social witness over time.
Decent & In Order
Our constitution organizes the church according to the New Testament model with emphasis on the Word of God, shared responsibility for ministry, accountability, transparency, and connection to the larger body of Christ.
Connectional
We share ministry and pool resources with other churches and higher governing bodies to have a greater mission and ministry impact. The local church is part of a regional Presbytery, part of a larger regional Synod, part of the national General Assembly.
