We worship in our sacred historic sanctuary, Sundays at 10am.
We welcome everyone. Come as you are!
We use Zoom videoconferencing to share our services online so that those participating online can be a visible and active part of our community. Zoom worshipers may share prayer requests live in the service, and are encouraged to participate in the spoken and sung congregational responses while muted on Zoom. When we celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month, those on Zoom may join in the sacrament with your own bread and drink at home.
The Zoom Gallery is projected in the Sanctuary. Please remember that if you turn your camera on, we can see everything your camera sees. We do love to see everyone, but also respect your choice not to appear on camera.
Our worship style is traditional, but relaxed. We follow the same order of worship each week. Within that order, some elements are always the same (i.e. Lord's Prayer), and some have new content each week. We usually sing three hymns out of a hymnal, but supplement at times with more contemporary texts and music. The service begins and ends with a piece of music which may be organ, piano, handbells, or the gifted instrumentalists. Those pieces invite us to center ourselves, to reflect, and to shift our attention to the presence of God.
Learn about our Music Ministries
We value the congregation actively participating in worship. Our printed worship bulletin includes all of the spoken and sung responses and instructions that you need to be able to participate.
Our service includes a time for sharing joys and concerns. If you have a specific prayer request, you are welcome to briefly share it that in community we can lift that up to God in prayer.
We pass offering plates towards the end of the service to collect contributions for our ministries. We do not expect guests and visitors to give. If you do so, do so according to your own desire to support the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ at PCAS.
The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of each month. We practice an open communion table. Everyone is welcome to partake. Member of another denomination? Roman Catholic? Not a church member anywhere? Haven't been baptized? Young Children? Come to the table! You are welcome!
Gluten-free bread is always available. So that all may partake, we use grape juice.
From September through June, the service includes a children's message on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.
The Rev. Katja Gruening preaches most Sundays, and focuses on how we apply the love, compassion, and justice of God as taught in Scripture to our lives and the complex world in which we live.
